Big news from the Crab A Ride crew! We’re proud to announce that Crab A Ride has been selected as one of 16 startups in the Innovest Ignite Accelerator 2025 Cohort 4, hosted by Innovest Afrika.

This year’s program highlights South Africa’s boldest entrepreneurs reimagining industries across fintech, renewable energy, logistics, AI, and smart mobility. It’s a powerful lineup, and we’re honoured to be driving the future of transport alongside so many visionary founders.

What This Means for Crab A Ride

At Crab A Ride, we believe safe, affordable, and accessible transport is a right, not a luxury. Our tech connects commuters, students, professionals, and everyday travellers through a WhatsApp-powered ridesharing platform, making travel simpler, greener, and more community-driven.

Being part of Innovest Ignite gives us access to world-class mentorship, investor readiness training, and a network of partners who share our mission: to make Africa’s transport ecosystem inclusive, digital, and sustainable.

Our journey will culminate at the Innovest Investment Summit & Demo Day in Johannesburg on November 19, 2025, where we’ll showcase how Crab A Ride is rewriting the story of mobility in South Africa.

Why It Matters

Every day, millions of South Africans struggle with unsafe taxis, unpredictable lifts, and expensive long-distance transport. Crab A Ride bridges this gap, matching passengers and drivers heading the same way, verifying IDs for trust, and cutting costs by sharing fuel expenses.

Through Innovest Afrika’s support, we’ll scale these solutions faster, building the foundation for Africa’s trusted mobility network, one that lowers emissions, connects communities, and gives everyone the freedom to move safely.

A Cohort That Reflects Real Impact

This year’s cohort is 75% women-led, a milestone that reflects the unstoppable rise of inclusive entrepreneurship in Africa. The diversity and creativity of our peers inspire us daily, reminding us that when innovation meets purpose, progress follows.

What’s Next?

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more behind-the-scenes updates from the accelerator, including how we’re growing our platform, refining our impact models, and preparing for Demo Day 2025.

Follow us on LinkedIn and Instagram for updates from the road, and if you haven’t yet, register on Crab A Ride or book your next ride directly via WhatsApp.

Because when you ride with us, you’re not just getting from A to B.
You’re helping build the future of safe, affordable, and sustainable transport in Africa
